Hint: Over the years Sagar Samrat has worked in increasing the efficiency of our country on a global basis and has also increased its economic and technological base. In 1973, a Japanese based firm, Mitsubishi made it.

Complete Answer:
Introduction: Sagar Samrat is an oil drilling platform in Mumbai high, which is 176 kilometres away from the coastline of Mumbai. It works under the supervision of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC). It was the first offshore oil rig in India which drilled the first well in 1974.

Uses of Sagar Samrat: It works as a drillship and a merchant vessel which is used for preliminary offshore drills for new sources of oil and gas and is also used for probing and investigative and scientific purposes. Sagar Samrat has an auger depth of 18000 feet. In 2005 a major fire accident took place in Mumbai high in which north platform was lost and hence after it Sagar Samrat is being switched over to north platform operations and the ONGC planned to replace the Bombay high northern platform by Sagar Samrat rig totals off its duties.

In the work of 32 years, Sagar Samrat drilled 125 wells and has been engaged with 14 great discoveries of oil and gas plants which added 3 billion tonnes of oil and gas.

Thus from the above discussion, we can conclude that the correct answer is A.

Note: - Bombay high which is the largest oil and gas field in India was discovered by a Russian oil exploration team which was working from a seismic vessel named Akademik Arkhangelsky during 1964-67 just after the industrial overdrive era of India.
- In Digboi, crude oil was discovered in the late 19th century, and in 1866 the first oil well was drilled. It is known as Assam's Oil City, where Asia's first oil well was drilled. As early as 1901, the first refinery began here. Digboi has the oldest oil well which is still in operation.
