Hint:This question deals with rounding numbers. A technique that helps a number to become simple without losing its original value is known as rounding off. This technique can be used on rounding off whole numbers as well as decimal numbers. Here, in the given question we are supposed to round off the number up or down to the tenths place.
Complete step by step answer:
According to the question,we are given $0.05$ and we have to round it off to the tenth place. $0.05$ has two parts. The integer part to the left of the decimal point i.e.,$0$ The fractional part to the right of the decimal point i.e.,$05$
In order to solve this question, we will have to know a few rules:
-If the last digit in the fractional part is less than $5$, then we remove the last digit of the fractional part.
-If the last digit in the fractional part is $5$ or more and the first digit in the fractional part is less than $9$, then we add $1$ to the first digit of the fractional part and instantly remove the second digit.
-If the last digit in the fractional part is $5$ or more and the first digit in the fractional part is $9$, then add $1$ to the integer part and make the fractional part $0$.
Now, as we can very clearly see that rule 2 applies in the given solution, so we add $1$ to the first digit of the fractional part and remove the second digit.
Hence, $0.05$ rounded to the tenths place is $0.1$.
Note:These types of questions are very easy to solve. Students should not get confused while solving them. The only area where students are required to pay more attention is to determining the rounding digit and deciding to add one to it or not. The zeros which are used to fill the values up to the decimal point are not accepted as significant digits.
