Hint: The cell is the structural, functional and biological unit of all the living organisms. The number of cells differs from plants and animals and from species to species. The cell is commonly known as the building block of life.

Complete answer:
Robert Hooke first introduced the cell in the year 1665. He described the discovery of the cell in his book called Micrographia. Hooke discovered the cell as the hosts of the tiny little pores. The word cell is a Latin word and it comes from the words 'celiac which means small rooms. The observation of Hooke does not give the idea of the nucleus and other organelles that are found in the living cell as at the time there was no microscope. There was another scientist Anton van Leeuwenhoek who saw the cells under a microscope just after Hooke. He found many motile substances.
The cells in the animal tissues were noticed after the plant cell because the tissue was so breakable and susceptible to tearing. The discovery of the cell mainly belonged to Robert Hooke and the scientific study of the cell is known as the cell theory. In 1838, Matthias Schleiden inspected a large number of plants and noticed that all the plants are composed of a different kind of cell which constitutes the tissue of the plant.
So, Robert Hooke used the term cell in the year (B) 1665.

Note: Rudolf Virchow in the year 1885 first explained that cells divide and new cells are formed from the pre-existing cells. Schleiden and Schwann together formulate the cell theory. The cell theory is acknowledged as all living organisms are composed of cells and products of cells and all cells arise from the pre-existing cells.
