Hint: First we’ll understand what a number line is, using the definition of number line we’ll plot the given number on the number line. For that first we’ll find the interval for the number line, then after making the number line with the respective interval we’ll plot the numbers given.
Complete step by step answer:
A number line can be defined as a straight line with numbers placed at equal intervals or segments along its length, it is extended infinitely in any direction and is usually represented horizontally.
The numbers on the number line increase as one from left to right and decrease moving from right to left.
Plotting numbers on a number line make comparing numbers easier. The numbers on the left are smaller than the numbers on the right side of the number line
Using this information we’ll plot $\dfrac{{ - 2}}{{11}}$, $\dfrac{{ - 5}}{{11}}$ and $\dfrac{{ - 9}}{{11}}$ on the number line.
As we can see the given numbers are negative so will be placed on the left side of the zero, and the numbers are the fractions in 11 or we can see that integral multiple of $\dfrac{1}{{11}}$ so will divide the number line in the interval of $\dfrac{1}{{11}}$.
As now, we can see in the above number line the required points are there with the division i.e. HCF of the numbers to be shown.
Note: We need to select or find the interval in which we are dividing the number line carefully, as it is the most important job in plotting the numbers in the number line. For the interval, we find the HCF of the positive part of the numbers that have to be plotted.
And while finding the HCF we should always take the magnitude of the positive part of the numbers to be plotted as if we take the negative numbers the division will also be negative which is not possible as the division or we can say the distribution cannot be a negative quantity, so always remember to take only the magnitude of the numbers while taking the HCF.
