Hint: Living organisms undergo a life cycle that includes birth, growth and development, and death. Meanwhile, some organisms have the ability to regrow their lost body parts and organs.

Complete step by step answer:Reproduction is the process by which organisms give birth to their progenies. It enables the continuity of species. Reproduction is of two types. They are sexual reproduction and asexual reproduction.
We all know that asexual reproduction is the method by which organisms reproduce in an asexual manner involving only a single parent. Note that it differs from sexual reproduction as the latter involves both parents. Keep in mind that all the offsprings produced by asexual reproduction are not only identical to the parent, but also to one another. It is sexual reproduction that brings in variation to the offsprings.
Sexual reproduction involves two parents. Here, male gametes produced from male parent fuses with the female gamete from the female parent to form a zygote. This zygote later develops into an embryo. As sexual reproduction involves meiosis division during gamete formation, variation is seen only in sexual reproduction and not in asexual reproduction.
Regeneration is not the same as reproduction. It is the production of new tissues, cells, organs, etc in an organism to replace lost cells. It is not a mode of reproduction. It doesn’t give birth to progenies and doesn’t contribute to the continuity of species. Common examples are regeneration of liver in humans, regeneration of tail by salamanders, etc.
So the answer is B.

Note: Some organisms use regeneration of organs for defensive purposes. In order to protect themselves from predators, they shed their organs and escape from predators. It is known as autotomy. It is seen in lizards who shed their tail under threat from their surroundings.
