Hint: On 22 August 1907, an Indian woman had hoisted the first Indian flag in the International Socialist Conference in Germany. She founded the newspaper called Bande Mataram along with Har Dayal.

Complete answer: Madame Cama or Bhikaji Cama who raised the first tricolour flag of India in an international conference, even when India was 40 years away from independence has been referred to as the ‘Mother of Indian Revolution’. She is regarded as one of the most important women who participated in the Indian independence movement.
Madame Cama was born in a Parsi family in Bombay. From a very young age, she grew interested in India’s Nationalist struggle for freedom. She married Rustomji Cama who was a lawyer and supported the British. Bhikaji Cama was never happy in her marriage life due to ideological differences with her husband. She soon fell sick and had to be sent to London for treatment. She kept herself updated regarding India’s struggle for independence. Madame Cama met Dadabhai Naoroji and she started working for the Indian National Congress. In 1907 she raised the first tricolour Indian National flag. She requested all the delegates present, to salute the flag. She travelled all around Europe to mobilise support against the British rule in India.
