Throughout history, people have built shelters to feel comfortable in their respective habitat and locations. People reside and dwell in a variety of shelters and houses. The construction and the material of the house depends upon the surroundings, climatic conditions, availability of space, tools, infrastructure facilities and many more factors. If we look at the magnificent yet freezing Kashmir, we will see people as well as tourists residing on houseboats. This all began when the King of Kashmir declined the foreigners’ request to build their houses on the land of Kashmir. These foreigners were charmed with its beauty, so they decided to build houseboats on the Dal Lake. Since then, people have continued this tradition of houseboats and many Kashmiris have even built hotels on houseboats. People who live in extremely cold climatic locations are dependent on igloos. Igloos are made with snow, as snow helps in insulating the interiors of the igloo and keeps it warm. Eskimos and many tourists find themselves comfortable and warm inside these igloos. Many people, especially the African Tribes reside in forests and areas covered with dense trees and plants. These African tribesmen have built their houses on a higher ground or on trees to protect themselves from animals and other possible dangers. Apart from African tribes, there are Nomadic tribes that do not situate in one place. They tend to move around in search of food and water. The nomadic tribesmen carry their own tents which can be easily packed and pitched on new locations. It is easier for them to carry these tents as they are light weighted and portable. People living in urban cities and towns reside in huge skyscrapers or apartments. We all know that cities lack ground space. Hence, it is viable to build tall buildings and skyscrapers to solve this issue of spacing. Cities are highly developed places that offer job opportunities and technology. So, many people tend to move to the cities in search of a better life which leads to an increase in the population level.
