October 28, Mumbai, Maharashtra. Mahatma Gandhi College of Arts and Sciences commemorated the Annual Social Gathering the day before which they used to hold every year since 1964. The special occasion was celebrated on the 27th of this month. Among the esteemed guests, few personalities that graced the occasion included Mr. S. Rao, the well-known business tycoon and Mr. K. Prasad, Honourable Member of Parliament, Ms. N. Banik and Ms. Vijaya Nath.
The ceremony began with the National Anthem and the College Anthem led by the choir of the college. The Principal of the College, Mr. Pawar, later welcomed all the guests with an opening speech. He was followed by a dance drama enacted by the members of the “Rangayan”, the hub of dance and drama in the campus.
Then, the ‘Student of the Year’ along with other students were felicitated for achieving excellence in academics and in the field of sports. Mr. K. Prasad awarded medals and certificates to the top three students from the Arts and Science sections for the outstanding results of last year. He also encouraged the students to work hard and contribute towards the growth of the country.
All of those honourable chief guests were then requested to speak a few words. They spoke about the different types of struggles they faced in their lives. They even encouraged the students to strive to the path of hard work until excellence is achieved. Moreover, they told the students to always remain indebted to their teachers and professors for showing the right path always.
After the speeches, the chief guests were delighted by a musical presentation by the choir of the college. The students presented a devotional song which enthralled the whole gathering leaving them mesmerized. The Annual Social Gathering ended with a vote of thanks from The Vice Principal of the College.
