She was also the first female muslim ruler from her community. The Delhi sultanate was founded in 1206 and was dissolved in 1555. The capital of the delhi sultanate included Lahore, Budaun, Daulatabad, and Agra. The common languages used by the people of delhi sultanate included Persian and Hindustani. It was an Islamic empire. Some important battles fought during this period included “ Battle of Panipat” and “ Battle of Amroha”. Razia sultan was the successor of Muizuddin Bahram. She was the daughter of Shamsuddin Illtutmish. She followed the religion of Sunni Islam. She was also called “Sultan Raziya al-duniya wal- din “. She started to issue her own coins by the end of year 1238. “Mohalla bulbuli Khana” near Turkman gate is the burial place of Raziya Sultan.
Additional Information – Iltutmish died on 1st May, 1236 in Delhi. His full name is “ Shams ud-din Iltutmish”. His ruling period is June 1211 to April 1236. He was the successor of “ Rukn ud din firuz”.

Illtutmish introduced two coins namely “tanka”. Tanka was a silver coin. And Jital, which was a copper coin. The iqta system was also introduced by him. The system involved exchange of revenue in terms of military services.
