Hint: In this question, we make use of the concept of projectile motion in which the body is projected upwards in the direction, Also, we use the concept of rest and motion of the body in different frames of references to find the final position of the stone.
Complete answer:
Here, Rana moves with uniform velocity on a bike. Suppose, he is moving on the X-axis having only the X-component of the velocity and the Y-component is zero. Initially, he has a stone in his hand and the stone is also moving with him with the bike. We can say that, stone is at rest with respect to Rana.
When Rana throws a stone in an upwards direction, the stone has only a vertical component along the Y-axis and does not have a horizontal component. There is no effect of the velocity of the bike as Rana and stone are in a different frame of reference with respect to the frame of reference of the bike. And hence, Stone will face back to Rana’s hands.
Hence, the correct answer is option A.
Note: In projectile motion, the object is projected at an angle with respect to the X-axis and hence the position of the object changes, but if the object is projected at right angles upwards, the object will come back to its original place and has only vertical component of velocity and no horizontal component of velocity.
