Hint:  Prithviraj III belonged to the Rajput Chauhan clan and was popular as the last independent Hindu king. He sat upon the throne of Delhi, before Hemu. He succeeded to the throne in the year 1169 CE only at the age of 20.

Complete step by step solution:
Prithviraj III (duration 1168 - 1192) was the Chahamanas, who later became popular as Chauhan ruler. He ruled over the regions around Delhi and Ajmer, the twin capitals He received these from his maternal grandfather Arkpal also known as Anangpal III of the Tomara dynasty in Delhi.

Prithviraj’s defeat in 1192 in the second battle of Taraori (Tarain) at the hands of the Muslim leader Muʿizz al-Dīn Muḥammad ibn Sām (Muḥammad Ghori) marked a watershed in the medieval history of India.  The war was initiated by Muhammed Ghori in order to assert his authority over a huge number of kingdoms on the northern side of India including Punjab and Sindh. As he was aware of the enemy’s strength, Prithviraj requested an alliance from Jaichand, the powerful ruler of Kanauj but he refused to help. Some reports claim that Jaichand was helping Ghori at the same time. The war eventually ended Prithviraj Chauhan's rule, and he was imprisoned and executed to death.

Additional Information: Prithviraj Chauhan's succession was not secure because of the death of Vigraha Raja in 1165. Then he re-consolidated control over the Chauhan kingdom and conquered many neighbouring kingdoms. Thus he made the Chauhan kingdom, the dominant Hindu kingdom in northern India. He campaigned against the Chandela Rajputs of Bundelkhand. His kingdom included many areas of present-day northwest India. It included Rajasthan, Haryana, parts of Uttar Pradesh, and Punjab.

Note:
Prithviraj Chauhan had control over much of present-day Rajasthan and Haryana. He unified Rajputs against the Muslim invasions. His elopement in the year 1175 with Samyukta (or Sanyogita). She was the daughter of Jai Chandra Rathod, the Gahadavala king of Kannauj.
