Complete answer: Munshi Premchand is regarded as the first author in Hindi who worked on realism. His novels promptly bring out the class differences between the poor and the urban middle class. His works cover subjects such as nationalism, religious values that allow the rich to exploit the poor and weak.It can be noted that Premchand’s characters in the novels come from different levels in the society. The characters are written from an experience of everyday lives. His characters include the landlords and presents, the professionals belonging to the middle class, people who belong to the marginal class in society and landless labourers. Premchand’s female characters are created as strong individuals. His novels such as Godan(1936) Kafan, which is a short story collection he focussed on the complexities of drama in a village life.

Note: Munshi Premchand was a believer of social realism. He wrote three hundred short stories and fourteen novels. His works were translated into English and Russian after his demise.
