Hint: Both these states have vibrant nature; for instance 35% of Sikkim is a National park. Even in Lakshadweep, only 10 out of 36 islands are inhabited. This gives us an indication of how they are on the lower end in terms of headcount.

Complete answer: I. Sikkim is a state in North-eastern India, with a population of 610,577 people, becoming the least populous state of the country.
Its capital is Gnagtok. It has rich diversity in terms of flora, fauna and geography (India’s tallest mountain peak, Kanchenjunga is in the area). Its state animal is the Red Panda. It has the achievement of being the first Indian state with completely organic agriculture. More than 60% people speak Nepalese, followed by Sikkamese, Lembu and Lepcha.
II. Lakshadweep is a union territory off the coast of Kerala. Its population is 64,429.
It is an archipelago composed of atolls, reefs and submerged banks. The current administrator (appointed by the President for a term of 5 years, under article 239) is Praful K. Patil. Primary religion followed here is the Sunni sect of Islam. Its main source of income is agriculture. Main languages spoken here are Malayalam and Mahl.

Note: There many interesting things to mark in the differences between these two states’ demographics as well. Like Sikkim’s primary religions are Hinduism and Buddhism, distinct from Lakshadweep. Similarly, Lakshadweep’s literacy rate is almost 10% than that of Sikkim.
