Complete answer: The statistical study of the human population is known as Demography. In simple terms population refers to the people living in a city or town,region,country or world. The growth in human population in the world is called growth of population.In 2020 the global population has risen to 7.8 billion. There are many nations in the world which have high population rates but a low standard of living whereas there are countries which have low rates of population and high standards of living.
The population growth began to occur with the Industrial Revolution which took place in England.Since the 1950’s the rise in medical advancements, led to the decrease in the mortality rate.The population growth can be determined in two ways:
1. In terms of absolute numbers: By subtracting the population from the present population to the past population is known as absolute increase.
2. The Net reproductive rate: The calculation of net reproductive rate is done by: births - deaths divided by population size, or in order to get the percentage term multiply by 100.

Note:The rapid population growth is very disturbing as it puts a strain on resources and results in depletion. The negative effects of population growth are: shortage of food and water supply, degradation of the environment,increase in global warming ,destruction of forests and several others.
