Punjab is a state in the Northern part of India with shared borders with states like Jammu and Kashmir in the north, Himachal Pradesh to the north and northeast, Haryana to the south and southeast and Rajasthan to its southwest. The state has an area of about 50,362 square kilometers making it the 20th largest Indian state. Regarding the population density, it is 551 people per square kilometer as recorded in the 2011 census.

> The state is the leading producer of wheat and contributes to two-thirds of the total production of food grains and one-third of milk production in the country. Thus, maintaining the food security of the nation.
> Punjabi is the official language spoken in the state and tenth broadly spoken language in the world.
> The state consists of 22 districts, 168 statutory towns and 69 census towns making it total to 237 towns.
> The famous festivals of the state are Lohri, Diwali, Mohalla and Dussehra.
