Hint: Plastic pollution has become a big issue for the Earth. There is an accumulation of plastic on land and in water. Plastic pollution is affecting the environment of the Earth.
Complete answer:
Pollution:
Pollution can be defined as the process of adding harmful substances which resulted in the deterioration of the Earth’s surface. The substance which causes pollution by contaminating the Earth are called pollutants. There are different types of pollution, such as land pollution, water pollution, air pollution, and noise pollution. Pollution can be caused by natural activities or anthropogenic (human) activities. For example, ashes from the forest fire and volcanic eruption are natural activities that resulted in pollution.
In contrast, anthropogenic activities include smoke from the vehicles, and factories, and leaching of chemicals into the river from factories. Pollution makes the environment of the Earth inhabitable for humans and other organisms living in it. One of the major pollutants on Earth is plastic waste.
Plastic waste:
The accumulation of plastic waste on Earth resulted in causing plastic pollution. The chemical properties of plastic make it difficult to degrade it fast. It can take many years for the plastic to degrade through the natural processes; thus, they formed the huge pile of waste that formed the garbage on land and in water. To remedy the plastic waste, research is conducting on the biodegradable microorganisms which are feeding on the plastic waste. The plastic-eating bacteria has been discovered, which is naturally eating plastic waste. Apart from this, plastics that can be either recycled or degrade easily are in production.
Note: The super enzyme has been extracted from the bacteria which naturally degrade the plastic waste. This enzyme breaks the plastic six times faster than the enzymes made by the scientists in the lab.
