Hint: We know that the exhaust fume of the automobile is very harmful. It pollutes the whole environment. It is very harmful for the plants, animals and human beings. The exhaust fumes of the automobile include many gases which are poisonous and are produced when the fuels like diesel and petrol are burnt in the engine. ${C_2}{H_6}$ is known as ethane , $C{O_2}$ is known as carbon dioxide, $CO$ is known as carbon monoxide and $C{H_4}$ is known as methane.

Complete step by step answer:
As we know that when petrol or diesel are burnt in the engine of the automobile some very poisonous gases are released as exhaust fumes. The exhaust fume contains gases like carbon monoxide, nitrogen, water vapour and oxygen are released. Some particulate material like mercury is also released from the exhaust. Carbon dioxide, $C{O_2}$ is released during cellular respiration. Methane, $C{H_4}$ is released in the atmosphere during the process of production of coal, natural gas and oil. Ethene, ${C_2}{H_6}$ is an impurity oil and natural gas. From the above explanation it is clear to us that carbon monoxide is present in the exhaust fume of automobiles. Carbon monoxide when inhaled inside the human body binds with the haemoglobin molecules and forms carboxyhemoglobin and increase the stability of the bond between haemoglobin and oxygen due to this oxygen is unable to detach from the carboxyhemoglobin. This results in unavailability of oxygen gas to human beings which is very dangerous for the human beings.

So, the correct answer of the given question is option: C. $CO$

Note:
Always remember that carbon monoxide or $CO$ is released in the exhaust fumes of the automobile. It forms a stable complex compound with oxygen which is known as carboxyhemoglobin. This stable complex compound is very dangerous for the human body. It can cause vomiting ,headache ,nausea and dizziness.
