Hint: There are two sex chromosomes which are X and Y and these sex chromosomes decide the sex of a person i.e, if XX represents female and XY represent males.
Complete answer:
First of all you should know what XX and XY chromosomes are. XX and XY chromosomes are sex chromosomes which determines the sex of an individual. Humans and most other mammals are having two sex chromosomes which are X and Y and in females, there is presence of two X chromosomes in their cell while in males, there is presence of both X and Y chromosomes in their cell i.e., XX in females and XY in males.
Pair of sex chromosomes are also called as allosomes and the allosomes pair in males is XY and in females is XX. X chromosome is much larger than Y chromosome. These allosomes determine the sex of individual, for example, in sexual reproduction the offspring's sex is determined by the presence of XX or XY sex chromosomes.
Let's look at options now, option A is Person A is female. In the question, Person A has XX chromosomes which means that Person A is female as there is presence of XX chromosomes in females and XY chromosomes in males. Therefore, this option is the correct one.
Moving to option B which is Person A is male. This option is incorrect since as given in the question Person is having XX chromosomes which means that person A is female no male. Therefore, this option is incorrect and it gets eliminated.
Moving to option C which is Person B is female. This option is also incorrect since the person B given in the question is having XY chromosomes which are present in males and this shows that person B is male not female. Therefore, this option is incorrect and hence it gets eliminated.
Last option D is None of the above. From all the given options, A is the correct one and B, C are incorrect therefore D cannot be the correct option because there is a correct option from the options.
Thus, the correct answer is Option A which is Person A is female.
Note: Sex chromosomes participate in the sex determination and in females, XX chromosome is present and in males XY is present. So according to the question, Person is having XX chromosomes which means person A in the question is female and person B is having XY chromosomes which means person B in the question is Male and hence the correct option is A.
