Hint: As we know that atmosphere is an important part of our ecosystem and hence it is important to study and learn things about it. The atmosphere of Earth is the layer of gases which is retained by Earth's gravity and surrounds the planet Earth completely, forming its planetary atmosphere. It is composed of various gases.
Complete answer:
Let us first study about earth’s atmosphere and then discuss about its air composition as follows:-
-The atmosphere of Earth stretches from the surface of the planet up to as far as 10,000 kilometers above which is approximately 6,214 miles and after that the atmosphere blends into space.
-As it is known that oxygen is necessary for most life on Earth but the majority of Earth’s atmosphere is not oxygen instead it is nitrogen.
-The atmosphere of Earth is composed of various gases in different percentages. The major gases are as follows:-
78 % is nitrogen
21 % is oxygen
0.9 % is argon
-The left 0.1 percent contains the trace amounts of carbon dioxide, methane, water vapor and some of the other gases. Among these other gases, 0.04 percent is carbon dioxide, 0.001818 percent is neon gas, 0.000524 percent is helium gas, 0.000055 percent is hydrogen gas and many more.
-So from the above data, we may conclude that 0.000055 percent of the earth’s atmosphere is hydrogen which might seem to be negligible.
Note:
-We must know that the most hydrogen in the atmosphere is chemically bound in the form of water vapour and since there is a very small amount of hydrogen gas in the Earth’s atmosphere, it almost makes up less than one part per million. Also hydrogen gas is so light that most of it easily escapes from the lower atmosphere.
