Complete Answer:
India is the second most populated country in the world. Before understanding the effects of overpopulation, it is necessary to understand the causes of overpopulation. The first and foremost reason is people living longer at one place and enjoying the birth rate. Secondly, it can be due to migration of the people.
Following are the reasons how overpopulation is affecting us:
- Depletion of Natural Resources: Mother Earth has the capacity to produce food and water. When these resources start depleting slowly, it becomes the major reason for the people because the demand will rise and supply of commodities will be less.
- Degradation of Environment: With the overuse of coal, oil and natural gas, it has put a great impact on our climate. In addition, air quality has been seriously impacted by the rapid growth in the number of automobiles and industries. The spike in CO2 emissions is contributing to global warming. Polar ice cap melting, shifting climate conditions, rising sea levels are only a couple of the effects we will have to confront because of environmental emissions.
- Conflicts and war: overpopulation places a significant burden on the capital which should be used for development. Conflict on water raises tension between states, which could result in political war. Poverty followed by starvation is another hallmark when we talk about over population.
- Rise in Unemployment: When a country becomes overpopulated, it will naturally rise the problem of unemployment, hunger, theft because people want to feed their families and provide them basic amenities in life.
Note: India has 1,352,642,280 population as counted in 2019 which indicates over population. Various factors which affect these are High Cost of Living due to demand and supply. Unhygienic living conditions and malnutrition has also a great impact.
