The prominent states where these forests are found are – Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Orissa and some parts of Maharashtra. There are basically two types of tropical deciduous forests: Moist and Dry Deciduous forests.

Dry Deciduous forests are found on the Northern part of India and South Deccan plateau.
They are also known as Monsoon forest which receive rainfall of 70 to 100 centimeter on the plains of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh.
