Hint: In order to solve this question first we will suppose any variable for the age of I then we will make the appropriate equation what the question is trying to explain us as it is given if we twice of the age by 400 it will result to 244. After it we will put the constant aside with the variable and finally calculate and will the final answer.

Complete Step by step answer:
For solving first we will let the age in variable and let us assume it x:
Now as it is stated in question that if 400 reduced by 2 times the age is 244, this means that if we subtract twice the age by 400 the resultant which we will be getting will 244:
According to the equation:
\[ \Rightarrow 400 - 2x = 244\]
Substituting the variable on one side and taking all the constants to another side we get:
$ \Rightarrow 400 - 244 = 2x$
Now on further solving it we will get;
$ \Rightarrow 2x = 156$
Now dividing from 2 on both the sides we get;
$ \Rightarrow x = 78$
So the age will be 78 and this is our final answer.

Note: While solving these types of questions the most important thing is to make the equation if the equation is not made correct the whole solution will be wrong resulting of which the answer will also be wrong. One other thing which is to be noticed is that the age will never be negative if it comes negative then it is wrong. If we will put the value of x in the original equation it will satisfy if the answer is correct.
