The National Council of instructional analysis ANd coaching (NCERT) is an autonomous organisation of the govt. of Asian country that was established in 1961 as a literary, scientific and charitable Society underneath the Societies' Registration Act (Act XXI of 1860). Its headquarters are situated at Sri Aurobindo Marg in the capital of India. Dr. Hrushikesh Senapaty is director of the council since Sep 2015. supported the recommendations of the Education Commission(1964-66), the primary national policy statement on education was issued in 1968. The policy supported the adoption of a consistent pattern of faculty education across the country consisting of ten years of general education program followed by a pair of years of diversified schooling.

The Government of India's Ministry of Education resolved on twenty seven July 1961 to ascertain the National Council of instructional analysis and coaching, which formally began operation on one Sep 1961.

The major objective of NCERT is to assist and advise the Ministry of Education and Social welfare in the implementation of its policies and major programmes in the field of education, particularly school education.

The Council was shaped by merging seven existing national government establishments, specifically the Central Institute of Education, the Central Bureau of Textbook analysis, the Central Bureau of instructional and job steerage, the board of Extension Programmes for educational activity, the National Institute of Basic Education, the National basic Education Centre, and therefore the National Institute of Audio-Visual Education.
