Hint:
Though the first Family Planning Policy was launched in 1952, the actual National Population Policy came into effect years later. Every year since then there has been discussion and amendments on the issue and it was not until recently the policy came into effect.

Complete solution:
In the year 1952, India made it to be the first country to adopt a family planning program but still it has a problem with population as it has reached a total og 1.32 crores. It is assumed that by the year 2024, India will overtake China reaching a population of 1.5 billion. But the growth rate was increasing year by year, the Health Minister announced a National Population Policy in the year 2000 which was released on February 15th. The mid term objective of the policy was to bring the Total Fertility Rate (TFR) to replacement levels by 2010 through implementation of inter-sectoral strategies. On the other hand, the long term purpose is to achieve a stable population by 2045 so that there is a sustainable economic growth, social development and environmental protection. There were certain goals listen by NPP for the year 2010 which are as follows -

- Addressing the basic reproductive and child health
- Education upto 14 years compulsory and free and reduce dropouts
- Recusing infant mortality rate to 30/1000 births
- Promote marriage of girls preferably after 20 year but not before 18
- Universal immunization of children

Hence, the correct answer is option B.

Note:
If the population continues to grow, India will overtake China by 2045 and if NPP is taken seriously and implemented we can prevent it from happening as overpopulation can cause crises like food shortage, unemployment, living problems, poor lifestyle etc.
