Hint:What is an east coastal plain? This question will arise in our mind. It is an extended landmass present between the Eastern Ghats and Bay of Bengal. Eastern coastal plain is wider than the Western coastal plain. There are two coasts in the east coastal plain which are Northern Circars and Coromandel coast.

Complete answer:
What is delta ? This question will arise in our mind. Delta is formed where the river meets the sea or ocean. The place where the river meets the ocean is known as the mouth of the river . The submission of sediments near the mouth point forms the delta. River water is a colloidal solution of clay and sediments. Sea water contains a large number of electrolytes. Class is a negatively charged particle.
Why call the clay as a negatively charged particle? This question will arise in your mind. In clays, a hydroxide bond is attached at the end of the soil particles. This makes the particle negative in nature.
When the negatively charged clay particle meets an electrolyte in the sea, the process of coagulation takes place. This results in the formation of Delta. Thus , delta get deposited in the river mouth . These sediments can not be moved out by other water resources. This results in the increase in river bed level.
There are four major rivers in the East Coast Plain which meet the sea. The rivers which are involved in the formation of Delta on the East coast plain are Mahanadi, Godavari, Krishna , Kaveri.

Note:Deltas have high nutrient content. The soils in the delta regions are more fertile so they are mainly used in agriculture. The river Kaveri formed the delta which is known as the ' granary of South India '.
