The full form of GH is Growth Hormone which is secreted by the anterior pituitary gland. It is regulated by the neurosecretory nuclei of the hypothalamus. These growth hormones are also called somatotropin.
The growth hormone is responsible for the stimulation of growth in the plants which is a peptide hormone. It performs several functions. They are:
> The function of growth hormone in humans promotes not only development but also cellular regeneration and production and to stimulate the liver and other tissues.
> The growth hormones perform various functions including the composition of the body fluids, body control, growth of the muscle, and the bones fat and sugar metabolism along with the heart functioning.
> The hormone that inhibits the secretion of the growth hormone is Somatostatin. Somatostatin is also known as the growth hormone-inhibiting hormone (GHIH). It is a peptide hormone that regulates the endocrine system and affects neurotransmitters and cell proliferation.
