Water is one of them. In many herbaceous plants tiny water droplets are seen on the margins of the leaves during night or early in the morning. This process is known as guttation. Guttation is the process which is known to take place in humid weather where the days are warm and the nights are cool.
Guttation takes place when the rate of transpiration is very slow as compared to the rate of absorption of water from the roots. Due to this difference in the transpiration and the absorption rates, water oozes out from the nerve endings through special pores. These pores are known as hydathodes.
