Hint: In Bangladesh and India, it is an important river. It is the largest distributor of the Ganges, usually flowing south-east for 120 kilometres to its confluence with the Meghna River near the Bay of Bengal. The town of Rajshahi lies on the banks of a river.

Complete answer:
Padma river
Padma is a name in Sanskrit for the sacred lotus flower, a symbol of beauty, purity, and growth. The definition is well-suited for the river bearing the same name, which seems to be continually developing and changing in beautiful ways. For the people living nearby, it is a mixed blessing.

The Padma is one of Bangladesh's major rivers, and satellite imagery shows that for at least the past 30 years it has been rising in scale, transforming in shape, and shifting in place. In India, it forms at the junction of the Rivers Ganges and Jamuna, then merges with the River Meghna and finally empties into the Bay of Bengal.
There are two main causes of the extreme erosion trends. First, the Padma, other than some occasional sandbags to protect houses, is a natural, free-flowing river with little bank security. Secondly, the bank sits on a broad sand bed that can easily be eroded.

Note: The river has moved from a relatively narrow, straight line to a meandering to a braided one over the past three decades and, most recently, back to a straight one.

The curves of the river from 1995-1996 were the most extreme. The curve began to evolve in 1992, started to decline in 2002, and has vanished since then.
