Hint: A metal is just a material having certain properties like shiny or lustrous, malleable, who conducts electricity, etc. There are several examples of metal like- Gold, Silver, Iron, Copper, Aluminum, Titanium, Mercury, etc.

Complete answer: Malleability can be defined as a property of metal- that is if a material is put under pressure or under stress then the substance has the ability to deform itself without any breaking. For example- if a material is malleable then we can easily transform it into thin sheets by beating it with a hammer.
In the periodic table, elements present from group $1 - 12$, shows the property of malleability. Also, the elements which show this malleability property are known as metals and also they exhibit one more property called ductility. Ductility means that the material can be converted into a thin wire by certain processes. Examples of such kinds of metals are gold, silver, etc. But non-metals do not have such properties, that means, non-metals will break if we apply stress or pressure to it. Non-metals do not have the ability to transform their shape.
But there are certain metals as well which do not show malleability but still are known as metal. Certain examples of certain kinds of metals are: Mercury \[(Hg)\]- this metal is not malleable at room temperature, since it is liquid and mercury is used in the thermometer. Other examples are Zinc \[(Zn)\], Titanium \[(Ti)\]. Zinc and Titanium are metals with close packed hexagonal crystal structure.

Note:
So, as we can see that malleability is a very common property in metals but it is not necessary that if the material is ductile and malleable then only the material will be known as metal. As there are many metals which do not exhibit malleability and ductility and are still known as metal.
