The muscles of the alimentary canal are specialized in such a way that it creates continuous movements through continuous contractions and relaxation such that it Moves the food in the forward direction right from the esophagus to the stomach. The series of movements by repeated contractions and relaxation is known as peristalsis.
Peristalsis of muscles the photo from the mouth to the anus in various parts through the various organs of the body. The contraction of esophagus conveys the food from mouth to stomach. And the peristalsis of the intestine conveys the food from stomach to the large intestine.
