Hint: First write the definition of modulation and its significance that is why we use modulation of periodic waveforms in real life and what are its uses. Then write the basic types of modulation that are required in day to day life and its uses and where they are used.
Complete answer: The process in which the properties of a periodic waveform is varied in one or more ways is known as modulation. It is actually a carrier signal which contains information to be transmitted with a modulating signal type.
There are 3 ways in which modulation can be transmitted,
AM- AM stands for amplitude modulation in which amplitude is modulated.
FM- FM stands for Frequency modulation in which frequency is modulated.
PM- Stands for phase modulation in which phase is modulated with the carrier signal.
Additional Information:
Frequency modulation is used in radio and mobile phones, it helps us to get connected over the same frequency to different persons at the same time.
Amplitude modulation is also used on the radio.
Modulation reduces the size of the antenna.
It attracts low attention.
It allows multiplexing (that is sending multiple signals simultaneously).
It reduces interference between two signals.
These modulation bands are very costly and the auction is done in the real-world to buy a modulation band, these are mainly bought by telecom industries.
Note:
Remember the definition for periodic waveform, modulation, frequency, etc or one can remember the concept of each and every term and build their own definition. Try to figure out all the basic types of modulation and their short forms and full forms, and the properties in which they are modulated.
