- As the Vice President is the Chairman of the Council of States, he may cast his vote when there is a deadlock. He represents the Council of States on ceremonial events and is liable for safeguarding the rights and freedoms of the members of the Council of States.
- If the President is unable to perform his functions due to absence or the post of the President falls vacant or he resigns, then the Vice President performs all his duties until the appointment of a new President.
