A resource is anything that satisfies our need but is also economically feasible, technologically accessible and culturally acceptable.
Economically feasible means that the resource should be affordable. For e.g., if I need to buy a pen, but its cost is Rs5000, then it will not be considered as a resource as I will not be able to afford it.
Technologically accessible means that I should have the knowledge and the technologies to use it. For e.g., if I get an internet connection, but I do not have a compatible device for it, then the internet is no longer a resource for me.
Culturally acceptable means that using a resource should not harm or offend others in society. For e.g., the killing of animals for certain resources may or may not be acceptable depending on the place and their traditions or beliefs.
Resource planning is a continuous method of strategically planning to carry out a better use of our important resources. For e.g. in India the process of resource planning can start from:

Why is Resource Planning Essential?
All these resources that we use are not free. Also, these resources are limited. If used in abundance and in an uncontrolled fashion, we may soon run out of various important resources around us. Therefore, resource planning becomes essential for the conservation of these resources.
