Hint: An Independent Media means freedom from any external authority. The external authority here can be any government body, political party or any influential person. This media can be in the form of newspapers, T.V. and Radio.
Complete answer:
The Media commonly known as news media is one of the best and the cheapest ways of getting all the information from all over the world. It plays a very important role in providing and delivering information to the citizens of a country.
In a world, where democracy is a major privilege of the country, freedom of media is a must. An Independent Media is one which can act, take decisions and can display anything legal on its channel, which is free from any rules and regulations from outside. Because when our media will be given the power to act freely only then we will be able to get the detailed news or information about what is happening all around the globe.
But freedom of the press, however, is just a myth because we can often see that the government has applied censorship on media content which means that our government has the right to control what the media will show to its viewers. But do we ever think why this censorship is imposed on our Media? Of course, to hide things from common people, from us. If the media will not be under any pressure then only we will be able to connect ourselves with the truth or reality of the government.
Note: Every year on the 3rd of May, We celebrate World's Press Day to increase the awareness of the media among people. There are about 400 officially registered News Channels in India. If we talk about satellite channels then there are more than 1600 satellite channels running across the country.
