Hint:Rainshadow is a blotch of land that has been forced to become a desert due to mountain ranges that have blocked all its plant growing, and also rainy weather. Rain shadows often can be seen next to some of the world’s most famous mountain ranges.

Complete answer:
In a rain shadow, it’s all dry and warm and on the other side of the mountain, it’s all cool and wet because of the air mass which moves from a low elevation to a high elevation and expands and then cools, because this cool air, as well as warm air, cannot hold moisture. And then cool air forms clouds, which in turn drop rain. After the air mass crosses the peak of the mountain and starts down the other side, the air warms up and then the clouds vanish and this, in turn, means less rainfall.

Example:
The simple definition of rain shadow is one side of the mountain; it's all dry area because the winds lose their moisture and on the other side of the mountain is rainfall. One such example of a rain shadow region is Death valley.

Rainshadow areas:
Northern Karnataka, Osmanabad, Beed(Maharashtra), Solapur, Gilgit and Chitral, the Vidarbha plateau, and the eastern side of Kerala, Pakistan are all rainshadow areas.

Note:Pune is a rain shadow area still it is the only district in Maharashtra where yearly rainfall has increased since 1961. Although rain shadow areas have some major bad impacts but also it is good for the plants which grow in a dry climate as the mountains block precipitation from falling in the valley.
