Hint: There are six major controls of the climate of any place. They are altitude, latitude, distance from the sea (continentally), ocean currents, pressure and wind system, and relief features.

Complete answer:
The atmosphere temperature becomes less dense and the temperature decreases as one goes from the surface of the Earth to higher altitudes, which is why altitude causes snowfall in the Himalayas, since temperature decreases as altitude increases.
Pre-monsoon showers are common, towards the close of the summer season. They are often referred to as ‘mango showers’ as they help in the early ripening of mangoes, which is why there is rainfall in summer.
A moderating influence is exerted by the sea on the climate; this moderating influence decreases as the distance from the sea increases and the people experience extreme weather conditions. This condition is known as Continentality i.e. very cold during winters and very hot during summers. This is the reason why Hyderabad is warmer than Mumbai since Mumbai is close to the sea and Hyderabad is not.
The western depression refers to a weather phenomenon, in which chilly cold moisture-laden winds come from the Mediterranean Sea towards the North-Western part of India after covering a long distance crossing Iran, Iraq, and Saudi Arabia. These winds come to India in between the months of December to February and are responsible for mild rains in Punjab, Haryana, and Western Uttar Pradesh. They are also responsible for snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir, Uttarakhand, and Himachal Pradesh. This is what causes rainfall in the North-Western Plain in the winters.

Thus, option (C) is correct.

Note: Over a large area for a long period of time (more than thirty years) the sum total of weather variations and conditions is Climate and over an area, at any point of time the state of the atmosphere refers to Weather.
