Hint: Wildlife is an undomesticated animal species and includes all the organisms that grow or live wild in an area without human disturbance. It plays an important role in balancing the environment.
Complete answer:
It is found in all ecosystems. In recent years wildlife has suffered severe damages due to lots of human interference.
Illegal wildlife trade, habitat destruction, invasive species, pollution and climate change are the major reasons for its destruction. Illegal wildlife trade is the fourth largest criminal industry after drugs, human trafficking, arms, etc. Some of the major threats to wildlife are:
1. Habitat destruction- Half of the world's original forests are gone and the remaining portion is being cut down ten times faster than it can be replaced. Forest fires also play a major role in wiping out our biodiversity. Due to these thousands of animals and birds are made homeless and most of them do not survive.
2. Invasive species- The non native species grow and reproduce rapidly and then spread aggressively. They are one of the leading threats to native wildlife, putting most threatened or endangered species at risk.
3. Pollution- Due to rapid urbanisation, sewage, water are being drained into the river which ultimately pollute the water and are a major threat for some of the species like the dolphin.
4. Climate change- The impact of climate change is rising ocean temperature and diminishing Arctic sea affecting marine biodiversity, shifting vegetative zone and forcing species to adapt to new conditions.
Note:
The health of the ecosystem on which we all are dependent is deteriorating as fast as it can recover. We are eroding the very foundation of our economies, livelihood, food security, health and quality of life worldwide.
