We must remember that both diamond and iodine are Lustrous non-metal because non-metals do not possess lustre. They do not reflect certain objecting light from their outer surface. Non-metals also have dull appearances which make them opaque Iodine and diamonds are two exceptions and are lustrous non-metal in nature.
As non-metals are defined as the elements which lack metallic attributes. They are also good insulators of electricity and heat. They are the majority of gases and sometimes liquids. Some of them are even solid at room temperatures like Carbon, phosphorus and sulfur. Metals are defined as minerals or substances that occur naturally below the surface of the Earth crust. Most metals are shiny or lustrous (lusting). Metals are a combination of inorganic elements that means they are made of substances that were never living.
Characteristics properties of non-metals are high electronegativity and high ionization energy. Because of these important properties non-metals usually gain electrons when they are reacting with other compounds and forming covalent bonds. Among the non-metals, the anionic atoms have a strong influence on the Valence Bond. Non Metal atoms are carbon, nitrogen, fluorine, sulfur and iodine.

Some exceptional cases in non-metals have this property .One similar non-metal possessing such property is iodine.
