Hint: Fibers are defined as naturally occurring or man-made substances that are used in the manufacturing of other important materials. They have an important economical role as they are used in the production of many different materials.

Complete answer:
Fibers are known to be of two main types-natural fibers and man-made fibers. Natural fibers are those that have a natural origin and are mostly developed from animals, plants or through geological processes and do not undergo any modification.

They are of different types- vegetable fibers that include cotton, jute, flax, banana, etc. used in the manufacture of cloth and paper; animal fibers such as silk, wool, sinew, etc. used in the manufacture of clothes as well as woollen garments; wood fiber that are mostly used in the production of paper; mineral fibers which include asbestos, amosite, tremolite, crocidolite, etc. and biological fibers also known as protein filaments which includes collagen, tendons, microtubules, etc.

The man-made fibers are those which have undergone several changes in structure, composition as well as properties during the manufacturing procedure. The man-made fibers are also of different types-semi-synthetic fibers which include rayon, cellulose fiber, modal, etc. and synthetic fibers which are again of different types microfibers, metallic fibers, polymer fibers, fiberglass, carbon fiber, silicon carbide fiber, etc.

Note: Nowadays the man-made fibers are gaining advantage over the natural fibers because the man-made fibers are being engineered and they have fixed properties which make them suitable for use in the production of a particular material.
