Hint: Physical processes are those in which change in appearance of matter takes place but composition remains the same. There are three states of matter i.e. solid, liquid and gas. The change in temperature and pressure will lead to the interchangeability of these three states of matter.
Complete answer:
Liquefaction of the gases is the physical processes by which substances in their gaseous state are converted to the liquid state. In physical conversion, chemical composition of substance remains intact. As we know, the intermolecular distance between particles is very large. By increasing the pressure or decrease in temperature, these particles come close to each other and hence convert into liquid state. By further increase in pressure, the particles further come close to each other and convert into solid. In contrast, decrease in pressure leads to the conversion of liquid state into gaseous state. This process is called evaporation.
Note:
It is important to note that liquefaction of the gases is the physical processes which lead to change the gaseous substance into liquid state. During this process, the composition of the substance will remain the same. Increase of pressure and decrease in temperature will favor the liquefaction process. Liquefaction of gases is the process by which substances in their gaseous state are converted to the liquid state.
