Hint: Both lipids and proteins are the nutritive substance, which is very essential for the growth and development, wherein the lipids, it is made up of fatty acids and glycerol, while the proteins are made up of amino acids, and both are constituents of the cell membrane.
Complete answer:
In the cell, there are so many cell organelles having different functions, out of which endoplasmic reticulum plays an important role in the synthesis of lipids and proteins, where lipids are synthesized in the smooth endoplasmic reticulum, while proteins are synthesized in the rough endoplasmic reticulum.
Other functions of the smooth endoplasmic reticulum include synthesis of lipids, sterile hormones, detoxification of harmful metabolic by-products, and metabolism of calcium.
Usually, this smooth endoplasmic reticulum is found mostly in the steroid cells, where most of the steroids like Glucocorticoids and mineralocorticoids are secreted by adrenal glands, and these steroids are derived from the cholesterol, which is abundantly synthesized by the smooth endoplasmic reticulum.
The rough endoplasmic reticulum is useful for protein synthesis because they have the dotted substance on their membranes called ribosomes, where this building membrane of amino acids is synthesized by the ribosomes in the rough endoplasmic reticulum. Where after the building of amino acids, the chains are packed and pushed into cisternal space RER, and from where they pinch off the vesicles and travel outside.
Note: Lipids and proteins are very important substances, found in the body, whereas lipids are also called as triglycerides, while they are made up of fatty acids and glycerol, and this is energy storage cells, while proteins are polymers of amino acids, there hundred and thousands of amino acids in the body and both these molecules forms the membrane of so many organelles.
