The three primary components of electrolytic cells are:
Cathode which is negatively charged for electrolytic cells, Anode which is positively charged for electrolytic cells and Electrolyte.
Electrolyte provides the medium for the exchange of electrons between the cathode and the anode.
When we apply an electrical current then the positive ions migrate to the cathode while the negative ions will migrate to the anode. As we know the concept that like charges repel each other while unlike attract each other so the positive charge ions are always attracted to the negative charged ions.
In the case of a secondary cell the electrolyte is liquid in nature i.e. secondary cells are those which contain liquid electrolyte they also known by the name wet cells. The main advantage of secondary cells is if they are completely discharged then they can be recharged and used again. The main example of a secondary car is car batteries and lead battery is also an example of a secondary cell whereas primary cells are those which do not have free flowing electrolyte.
