Hint: He was responsible for picking the site for the construction of Harmandir Sahib (The Golden Temple) in Amritsar. He was the third out of the ten Gurus of Sikhism. The town is named after a trader.

Complete answer:
Goindwal Sahib is a town situated on the ancient east-west highway that crossed the river Beas and connected Delhi to Lahore. It was established as a new centre under the Guruship of Guru Amardas Ji during the 16th century and it was he who laid the foundation of the Goindwal Sahib.

Before being known as the town, Goindwal Sahib, Goindwal was the name given to the village of a trader whose name was Goindha. The village was named Goindwal after him. Guru Amardas Ji stayed in Goindwal Sahib for thirty-three years and established it as a site of great importance in Sikhism.

Guru Angad Dev Ji was the predecessor of Guru Amardas Ji. He asked Amardas Ji to oversee the project of building the town of Goindwal and for the same, he appointed staff for Amardas Ji. He also selected Bhai Amardas Ji to be his successor.

Guru Amardas Ji moved to Goindwal from Khadur with his family soon after his anointment as Guru in 1552 at the age of seventy-three.

Thus, the correct answer is Option (D) Guru Amardas Ji

Note:
According to Sikh legend, he suggested King Akbar sit on the flood and have a meal at the langar like everyone, before meeting him. Akbar as a king wanted to encourage tolerance among the different religions and he readily accepted this suggestion.
