Hint:Chile is a country in South America. Chile’s government was overthrown by the military in 1973. President’s house was surrounded by the military and the military started bombing it.

Complete step by step answerThe Presidential election 1970 was won by Allende, the leader of the Socialist Party of Chile. As he was elected he took several policy decisions to help the poor and the workers. Some of them are the reform of the educational systems, free milk to children, and redistribution of land to the landless farmers. He opposed foreign companies from taking away the natural resources from their country. These policies were opposed by the landlords, the rich, and the Church. His government was also opposed by the other political parties. Thereafter, on 11 September 1973, the military conquered the seaport and also arrested the Defence Minister. The President was asked to resign and as he refused to do so. Instead, he addressed the people of Chile on the radio after realizing that both, his life and the country, are in danger. Later he was attacked by bombs at the President’s house which is the La Moneda – Chile’s President Palace. President Allende died in this military attack and he addressed his sacrifice in his last speech.

Thus, option (A) is correct.

Note:The military overthrew the government elected by the people through conspiracy and violence. It was a military coup and General Augusto Pinochet, an army general, led the coup. He became the President of the country and ruled for the next 17 years.
