Hint:
The plain along the Eastern Coast in the Indian subcontinent is known as the Eastern Coastal Plain.

Complete step by step solution:
The Eastern Coastal Plain in India stretches from the Delta of Ganga to Kanya Kumari in the south. The plain includes some parts of Odisha, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. This plain is much wider than the Western Coastal Plain with a varying width of 100-150km. It is divided into two parts:
Northern Part: It lies in the North of river Krishna and is called the ‘Northern Circars’
Southern Part: The southern part of the Eastern Coast is known as the Coromandel Coast
The Northern Circars consist of the deltas of Mahanadi, Godavari and Krishna. These rivers have dissected the eastern ghats at many places due to which it has become wider. The Mahanadi delta gets most of its rainfall in the summer season and is almost 150km wide. The precipitation increases gradually as we move northwards. The major grown in this region are sugarcane, tobacco, rice, cotton and millets.
The Coromandel Coast includes the delta of river Krishna to Kanya Kumari in the Eastern Coastal Plain. This region doesn’t receive any rainfall from the summer monsoon but precipitation occurs in winters. The Cauvery delta in this region has a good irrigation system and fishing is the most important occupation of people. The most prominent crops of this region are Rice, millets and groundnuts. Chennai is the most important port of this coast. It is man-made and the third largest port of India.

Note:
There are not enough good harbors in the Eastern Coastal Plain as it is generally straight and regular in its shape.
