Hint: The chemical compounds composed of positively charged cations and negatively charged anions are known as salts. The salts showing acidic properties and basic properties are known as acidic and basic salts respectively.
Complete step by step answer:
In chemistry salt is a chemical compound composed of cations (positively charged ions) and anions (negatively charged ions) are known as salts. These chemical compounds (salts) are electrically neutral in nature.
Different types of salts are characterized in chemistry according to their functioning in reactions and solvents in which they are added. Here in this problem we will discuss four types of salts; acidic salt, basic salt, normal salt and double salt.
The class of salts in which when the salts are added to solvents they produce acids are termed as acidic salt. These salts show high electrical conductivity as compared to pure solvents, the partial neutralization of polyprotic acid results in formation of acidic solution from the acidic salts.
Basic salts are opposite to that of acidic salts. The salts formed from the reaction of weak acid and strong base are known as basic salts. Basic salts are also known as alkali salts, these are formed from the partial neutralization of weak acid and strong base.
Normal salt, the salts formed from the complete neutralization of acid and base are known as normal salts. One most common example for common salt is sodium chloride.
The salts having more than one cations and anions are known as double salts. The other definition for double salts is; the salts which crystallizes as one substance but ionizes as two different salts. Alums are the example of double salts.
So from the above discussion we can conclude that when ${\text{NaHS}}{{\text{O}}_{\text{3}}}$ salt will be added to water it can release ${{\text{H}}^{\text{ + }}}$ ions, hence it has some acidic properties, so it is an acidic salt.
Hence option (A) is correct.
Note:
As we have discussed above that salts present in chemistry have different types. One of them is hydrated salts, the salts which attract water molecules and bind those molecules with them before crystallization are known as hydrated salts.
