This sanctuary is located in the Karauli district of Rajasthan which lies between the Katauli and Sapotra blocks . This sanctuary is famous for its environmentalists and conservationists who have initiated various forest protection committees. The natural vegetation of this area is deciduous and it is spread over three altitudinal levels of this sanctuary. The terrain includes river gorges, that are locally called as khos. This wildlife sanctuary nurtures a wide variety of flora and fauna that includes sloth bears, cheetals, striped hyena and other host species. It is spread over an area of almost 676.40 kilometres square. During the summers, the green dense forest gets turned into an ash grey colored forest while a canopy of green covers is made during the monsoon season. A number of waterfalls can be observed during these months. It is named after a goddess who is considered as the sister of lord Krishna, according to the Hindu puranas.
