Hint: When more industries are formed, it requires more employees to work. When more employees come into cities to work, other industries in the service sector come into existence. Both these processes are interdependent on each other.

Complete Answer:
- Industrialization is the process in which a society which works in agriculture transforms into a society with industrial occupations. Industrialization is a process which has always been associated in the past with increase in pollution, due to polluting industries and heavy dependency on fossil fuels. In modern times with advancement in technologies and the concern for the planet, more sustainable methods are used to promote industrialization.
- Urbanization is basically the shifting of a population from rural areas to urban areas. This is the process which leads to the formation and the increase in size of towns and cities. These two processes are closely linked.
- Since industrialization causes formation of industries and factories, it requires more employees. This increases the number of jobs available to people.
- To take up these jobs, people from rural areas start moving into these towns where the industries are set up. Hence it leads to formation of towns and cities or it increases the size of the already existent ones. This is how industrialization causes urbanization.
- Also, when more people come into cities other industries such as marketing, banking, insurance, security etc. also get a chance to flourish. This is how urbanization promotes industrialization. This justifies the given statement that, ‘Industrialization and Urbanization go hand in hand.’

Note: The United Nations has made certain predictions regarding urbanization, which state that by the year 2050, 86% of the developed world will be urbanized. 64% of the developing world will also be urbanized which will occur largely in Africa and Asia. The United Nation also predicted that by 2008 half of the world population will be urbanized, which turned out to be true with 55% of the population living in urban areas.
