It is an essential vitamin that can be present in certain animal-derived foods such as animal liver and kidneys, clams (small chewy shellfish), beef; and some of the plant-derived foods such as beetroot, alfa-alfa, butternut squash, potato, etc. It is one of the crucial vitamins that play an important role in maintaining the health of nerve tissue, brain function, and the production of red blood cells. Also, it is a cofactor in the synthesis of DNA and also in the metabolism of both fatty acids as well as amino acids. Thus, this vitamin is very crucial and essential for our body.

So, to cure vitamin ${B_{12}}$ deficiency, a diet enriched with this vitamin must be taken, especially the animal derived foods. In the case of vegetarian people, supplements of the vitamin ${B_{12}}$ must be provided along with the proper diet.
