Hint: This process is used for the bauxite ore which contains silica impurity. The powdered bauxite ore is mixed with coke and heated at high temperature in presence of ${N_2}$.

Complete step by step answer:
This process is used for the purification of bauxite ore containing silica $\left( {Si{O_2}} \right)$ as the main impurity. The powdered ore is mixed with coke and the mixture is heated at about $1800^\circ c$ in the presence of nitrogen gas, when aluminium nitride is formed.
$A{l_2}{O_3} \cdot 2{H_2}O + 3C + {N_2} \to 2AlN + 3CO + 2{H_2}O$
Aluminium nitride thus obtained is hydrolysed with water to get a precipitate of $Al{\left( {OH} \right)_3}$.
$2AlN + 6{H_2}O \to 2N{H_3} + Al{(OH)_3}$
The precipitate of $Al{\left( {OH} \right)_3}$ is filtered, washed and dried. The silica present as an impurity in bauxite is reduced to silicon which being volatile at high temperature is removed easily.
$Si{O_2} + 2C \to Si + 2CO$

So, the statement given is true. Answer is true. We can write true as $1$..

Additional information:
Bayer’s process and serpeck’s process both are used in concentration of bauxite. But serpeck is more efficient because during extraction of $Al$ from bauxite containing more than $10\% $ of silica as impurity. Bayer’s process will be uneconomical due to generation of insoluble sodium aluminium silicate.
Aluminium ore is also called bauxite. The bauxite is purified to produce aluminium oxide, which is a white powder and aluminium can be extracted from it. The extraction is done by the process of electrolysis.

Note: Red Mud is the waste product that is produced in the digestion of bauxite with sodium hydroxide. It has high calcium and sodium hydroxide content with a complex chemical composition, and accordingly is very caustic and a potential source of pollution.
